14 Days of Valentine's

This was fun for both me and my husband.
He enjoyed waking up each day to a new surprise and I love giving surprises.

The only thing that would keep me from doing this again was the cost.
If you are just writing notes each day, or maybe just buying small candy bars,
I'm sure you can keep it under $20 easy.

But as usual, I bought more than I expected;
or at least my items cost more as a whole than I expected.

I think next year I'll just leave 14 days of sweet notes, quotes, and poems :)

But this was a one-time fun surprise nonetheless.

Now, some of the notes I made with the gifts may some a little raunchy to some readers,
but hey,
it's Valentine's
and the notes were all in good fun to match the gifts he was given.

// Side Note: I posted a tutorial here for Day 11's Fortune Cookies //

Here are all of them in the order they were given.
Enjoy!

Day 1: I wouldn't CHEWS anyone but you!

Day 2: I SODA think you're amazing!

Day 3: I'm so glad you're my MACHO man!

Day 4: My heart POPS for you

Day 5: I've got a CRUSH on you

Day 6: I CEREAL-sly love you!

Day 7: You have o-FISH-ally stolen my heart!

Day 8: We were MINT to be together

Day 9: Howdy Partner! What're the chances I have a SHOT with you?

Day 10: Have a great day CUPCAKE!

Day 12: I DONUT think I can live without you!

Day 13: I wanna get NAKED with you tomorrow night

Day 14: There will be no CLEAN thoughts tonight. Happy Valentine's Day!

My husband wants to make sure everyone knows he's not some
fat diabetic after all of this lol.
He actually hasn't even opened some of the treats/food.
If only he liked sugar and treats as much as I do :)

This was actually one, if not the best Valentine's I've had.
He had beautiful flowers delivered to my work.
he knows lavender is my favorite smell so he made sure the flowers were lavender color.

Then he surprised me with a yummy sushi dinner at Shogun downtown Salt Lake City.
You get to take your shoes off and sit on the floor at the table; it's a fun experience.

Then we had a free night hotel stay at a new Hyatt Place and he had rose petals all over the room
with some Mormon champagne (Martinelli's)  :)

We usually don't go all out for Valentine's day with it being right after the Christmas holiday,
then our birthday's are two days apart in April,
and our Anniversary is a month after that.

It's a lot to keep tabs on and plan extravagant things for,
so we try keeping V-day pretty small;
and it gets smaller every year.

Some people complain that Valentine's Day is pointless and you love your partner
every day of the year and don't need a day to remember or celebrate it.
I understand that but look at it this way:

(for most of us) We think about and have Jesus in our everyday lives, but we have
Christmas to celebrate Him and His birth.

We are thankful everyday for what we have but we have
Thanksgiving to celebrate giving thanks (and the pilgrims of course).

So, enjoy Valentine's as just another day to get out (or stay in),
have a nice dinner,
and spend some quality time with your special someone
or even family.

Paper Fortune Cookies

These were part of the "14 Days of Valentines" gifts that I gave to my husband.
He loved them and they were actually so easy to make.

I bought a little Chinese food to-go box to put the fortune cookies in
and served it with a homemade Chinese dinner.

//Supplies//
Paper
Glue Dots (or hot glue gun)
Scissors (or circle die-cuts)
Paper fortunes

I made 7 Fortune Cookies since it was half of 14 for Valentines.
14 would have been too much work and taken the fun out of the delivery.

/Step 1/
First I typed up and printed out my own fortunes and cut them into strips.

/Step 2/
I used my Cricut machine to make the 4" circles.

/Step 3/
Fold the circle in half and pinch only at the center.

/Step 4/
Place a Glue Dot or a dab of hot glue just below the crease on one side.
The glue dots work just fine, but I wanted to be sure these would hold permanently
so I used a dab of hot glue.

/Step 5/
Now open and fold the circle in half the opposite way of your first crease.
You don't need to pinch it.
SIDENOTE: You can either place the fortune strip inside right now
or thread it in at the end.
I prefer to do it at the end.

/Step 6/
While holding the circle like the picture above,
use your other hand like so:
thumb on bottom, middle finger on-top, pointer finger in the middle
to push the center inward

/Step 7/
Now pinch your fingers together so the
Glue Dot/hot glue start the adhesion.

/Step 8/
If you haven't already placed your fortune strip inside,
now is the time to either thread it in and out of the fortune,
or fold it in half and place it inside.

And VOILA!
They're so cute and so easy!
