SPOILER ALERT!

I'm in the mood for our latest scary movie reviews!

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!
(My aunt got on me about not mentioning "Spoiler Alert" last time I reviewed some movies lol)

****PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS BELOW!****

The only way I can really express how lame the endings were is by spoiling what the monsters looked like. Plus, I am doing you a favor by saving you money and time. If you still feel like watching, REDBOX ONLY!

First Movie Review: INSIDIOUS
"IT'S NOT THE HOUSE THAT'S HAUNTED". Think you're gonna get an awesome creepy child movie? Well, you're wrong. The kid is in a coma because he is an "astral projector", meaning when he sleeps, he can wander between the parallel universe of "The Further" where the lost souls of demons and the dead live.

It is creepy when he draws pictures of himself watching himself sleep and also of the red door to the parallel universe.
While he is in a coma, his little brother requests to sleep in a different room because he "doesn't like when Dalton walks around at night." So creepy!! And during the mini-seance, Dalton (the boy in a coma) is standing next to them, pounds his fist on the table and they all go flying. ONLY creepy boy scenes.
Turns out the dad was also an astral projector and had a demon after him who wanted his body while he was stranded in The Further. The lost-spirit chasing after his body is this old woman with a candle
Kind of reminds me of the dead guy in Hocus Pocus :)
So, this little boy has a demon who has been watching over his body trying to get in. His demon pops up randomly at the dinner table and it scared the heck out of me! But then you get a few too many looks at the hoofed demon and this is what you get...
A tribal dancing Darth Maul look alike lol
End of story, dad brings child back, dad is ultimately posessed by his childhood monster.

Movie Review 2:  APOLLO 18
I LOVE mockumentaries. It's always scarier when it seems like it could be real (Like Paranomal Activity; which has a prequal coming out next month!)

The government calls these 3 astronaut-in-training-friends on a secret mission they can't tell anyone about, not even their families.

One man stays in the shuttle orbiting the moon while the other two are launched down to the moon to install cameras around the "south pole".

The two men start setting up the cameras and notice strange rocks that they end up taking for samples. During the night, lights flicker, strange noises occur, they wake up and a rock sample is out of the bag and on the floor. They then see strange tracks outside the shuttle (lines on movie poster). They start following the trails and see other astronaut foot trails.
The footprints lead to an abandoned Russian shuttle but no one around. One US astronaut decides to wander down a crater and ends up finding a dead Russian astronaut.
In the mean time, one astronaut has been attacked by something that got in his suit. His friend ends up digging this rock lump out of his side and it quickly becomes infected.
The infected astronaut starts going crazy and gets very hostile. Films his friend sleeping for a few hours and then freaks out on him.
Their communication isn't working, NASA is trying to help, but they are running out of oxygen. They head to the Russian craft, the infected astronaut is swept away and taken, the other guy gets the shuttle started and is heading back to the original shuttle. NASA is telling the orbiting guy not to let him on board because he has been infected. But they end up colliding and dying.

The credits mention that they told friends and family they each died in different training experiments.

Here is a glimpse of the moon monster
They are spiders that turn into rocks for camouflage..literally.

Movie Review 3: DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK
Another fun creepy child movie? No, not really.

This little girl is forced to live with her father and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in an abandoned home he is renovating that an old famous painter once lived in with his child.

While wandering around the outside of the house, following whispers calling out "Sally", the little girl stumbles upon a basement window. They didnt even know it existed because houses in that area didnt have basements due to "sink holes".
They find the hidden door to the basement and discover this is where the painter did his work. Meanwhile, Sally is intrigued with this fireplace where she hears whispers all night telling her to set them free so they can be friends. "Come to the basement and play with us Sally." So of course, she follows the sound.
Whatever happened to "don't talk to strangers". lol

Sally ends up opening the fireplace and strange things start happening. She hears things crawling around her bed telling her to turn off the light because they don't like it. One crawls under her sheets and of course, she goes to look for it.
This part scared me so bad, I jumped!
Looks pretty scary huh!? Turns out they are little gnome people (furry like rats and 5 inches tall) that live in the fireplace because it leads to some underground world of theirs where they must take a child victim as one of their own.

They terrorize Sally, cut the power to house, attack the girlfriend, and eventually get ropes around Sally's legs and drag her downstairs. Meanwhile, the non-believing father is being terrorized as well by 5 inch rat people in the garage.
walking gnome-rat-people

Katie Holmes saves Sally before she gets dragged into the fireplace. She ends up cutting Sally lose and gets pulled against the wall as the ropes break her shins backwards as she gets pulled into the hole.
At the very end, you hear the creatures whisper, "What will we do?" "We will bring others to get them." But then you hear Kim's voice whispering as well saying, "We will dig deeper. Soon they will forget. They always do. "We have all the time in the world," and the other creatures repeat after her saying, "Yes, we have all the time in the world."

Creepy ending... whispering is always creepy lol.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

SO..... what do these movies have in common??? Amazing potential to be great movies, but they are ruined with really lame "monsters". I feel some of the scariest movies come with not knowing what the monster is, or only getting flashes of it. Hollywood is ruining the scary by having lame monsters; A.K.A. Darth Maul with hooves, rock spiders, and rat people.

We LOVE movies so I hope you enjoy the sporadic movie reviews :)

SkyMiles

Pretty sure I'm racking up lots of Delta SkyMiles lately! haha but it's so worth racking up each one.

Another weekend in Mesa, AZ! Hot? Extremely! Sweaty? You betcha! Worth it? Always.

Saturday, the Mesa T-Birds played the Snow College Badgers. Unfortunately, Mesa lost. The T-Birds had some AMAZING defense goin' on all night (3 interceptions, Snow not getting 1st downs). But, you can't win a game if your offense can't capitalize on what the defense offers up. The offense definitely needs to spend some more time together and get on their A-game real quick! I love my Utes, but watching Mesa offense is Utah offense deja vu lol.

But, Tyson got mentioned in this article for having a great game - and that he did.

Tys, Me, Lora, Jake
Tys had the chance to play against his childhood friend Jake Palmer as well. Always a good time seeing friends. I think Tyson really enjoyed it as well, not only because he got to see a friend for the first time in who knows how long, but his parents also drove down for the game as well. It was a good dose of home for Tyson and I know he really appreciated the support

I was so excited I finally got to wear the shirt I had been working on for a week! I even had a lady ask me where I got it and if I would make her one. I had to decline as I'm not down there enough to get it back to her soon enough. But I love it!
I blinged out the football laces :)
Blinged out BUCK as well
I made the whole T-Bird logo by hand. Took me forever but it turned out so cute!!

Any who, unfortunately Tyson didn't walk away injury free. We think he got his foot stepped on or something, but he has a sprain on the top of his foot, tons of scratches and bruises and an extremely sore neck. But during the game I could tell something was wrong with Tys. He called himself out of the game during 2nd quarter and was saying he couldn't breathe and couldn't feel his legs. Turns out his sodium and glucose levels were extremely low. The trainers gave him a few drinks and salt strips but he definitely wasn't himself the rest of the night. BUT, if he can get mentioned for playing so well at his lowest physical point, then you can only imagine how great he is when he's 100%

I tried to pamper him and give him hot towels and a neck massage for an hour, while he (we) watched Titanic :).
He has shorts on promise :)

Such a fun weekend! I'm just sad I don't get to see him until the 16th.

Rough goodbyes this time, but I always know things are going to be okay.

Love you Tys!

Oh Geezy

I was so lucky to be able to meet Tyson in St. George two weekends in a row!

Coach Croshaw's wife lives in St. George so he drives up basically every weekend and is nice enough to drive some players as well when they want to head home for the weekend.

I wasn't all too sure about getting to see Tyson this weekend since it was all dependent on whether they won or lost their Thursday game. Well, I guess 49-2 was a big enough win to call it a weekend :).

It's been really nice having a "half-way" point to meet up for the weekends, so thank you Mom and Steve, for letting us stay at the condo.

Unfortunately, with the official season starting this weekend, there aren't any in between weekends to meet up again. So, we'll have to make due with me flying out to his home games every other weekend.

115 degree weather... here I come!!

Tys and I have loved these little weekend getaways; they've been mini-vacations for us. We've seen a few movies, eaten out A LOT, had pool time, and just sat around enjoying our time together.

Tys and I went and saw Final Destination 5 in 3D (A great sequel/prequel) and also Redboxed The Eagle (excellent movie!) and also Insidious (don't even waste your $1.07 at the Redbox)

I absolutely LOVE the self-serve frozen yogurt shop Krave! We eat there every day we're in St. George. I totally want to open a self-serve shop one day; people don't realize that they serve themselves a lot when they have the opportunity and end up paying for it too lol.

We also took a hike up to the Dixie rock to watch the fires around the the city and watch the storms roll in. So pretty! Unfortunate, but pretty :). We took some pictures but it was so dark and windy, the pictures didn't turn out so well.

On our last St. George trip, we were lucky enough to have dinner with Tyson's sister Brittney and her husband James and their cute boys Mason and Caleb. They live in Chicago so we rarely ever see them.

Like I mentioned, we ate out a lot (I've probably gained 10 pounds!) Dennys, Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, Bear Paw, and Outback. AHHH!!! haha I need a home cooked meal real quick!

Thanks for the fun Geezy weekends Tys!!

See you in AZ this weekend for the Mesa vs Snow College game!!

People Watching

Some people find the phrase "People Watching" creepy or even rude. Well, I'd LOVE to know one person who has never just been waiting around for something and just sat back to look at the people around you and found some to be very eccentric or different..................exactly lol.

Madison was working at a table for her work Key Bank at the concert, so Ryan got me out of the house to go chill with her and check things out. (Of course when he picked me up, about an hour of Mortal Kombat was required first lol)

I lived right downtown for 3 years and never went to a Twilight concert. And to be honest, I don't even remember hearing it at all; which surprises me because it was so loud for downtown! Just goes to show how oblivious I am and what my selective hearing will or won't pick up lol.

After finding Madison and getting something to eat, we sat down at her booth and started noticing common qualities in the people around. Skinny jeans (on men), flowing dresses, teevas, no shoes, headbands around the forehead, sunglasses (at night), gages, vans, toms, tanks (on men). Man, I had totally forgotten what it was like living in the SLC lol.
You would be surprised which gender is wearing which pants lol
**Are boys aware that excessive wear of skinny jeans lowers your sperm count? Just saying**

Here are a couple of our favies from the night :)

I feel the acid wash shorty shorts and boots really accent his legs quite nicely
Definitely a "free spirit" who completely collapsed infront of us for a good hour lol
Nothing like a fun night in the SLC with some family :)

Way too hot!

I was FINALLY able to fly out to Mesa and see Tyson after 2 weeks without him! I don't know how (loyal) missionary girlfriends, army wives, etc go years without their guys; I was going nuts after a few days.

Thankfully the flight to Phoenix is only a little over an hour so leaving at lunch on a Friday and coming back Sunday night makes for a nice weekend getaway.

I was lucky enough to see Tyson's first game! He's a starter at the J.C. and did AMAZING! I haven't really had the chance to see him play in a real game against another school so it was a fun experience.

I wish I would have filmed his sack in the first quarter but I only got a picture right before.
#83 long white socks :)

I really am so proud of him for giving it a last chance to do what he really wants to do. The separation has been really hard on us. He's out there all alone without anyone he knows, and I'm living in our apartment alone. It's really tough but I know it'll make us appreciate our time together so much more.
**If you try calling or texting us when we're together, don't plan on us answering cuz we're doing a "no cell phone" rule - it's amazing how much time people waste sitting in the same room as someone but totally zoned out playing on their phones.

I was able to meet and thank the people that have been letting Tyson stay with them; they're such great people. I was also able to meet Coach Croshaw and thank him for all he's done and for offering to drive Tyson to St. George with him every once in a while so we can see each other more. Coach Croshaw really is such a great guy and very understanding of how hard our situation is. "I feel like a child molester taking him away 2 months after you got married." hahaha Croshaw is an old crazy funny man :).

Tyson is surrounded by great people there everyday, but I know he misses his wifey and I miss my hubby more than I thought I ever would. Such a great weekend (minus the 110 degree weather everyday), I only wish I would have taken more pictures!
Dropping me off at the airport
Love you Tys! See you in St. Geezy this weekend!

Are You Insane?!

Well, I thought I would just make a quick post to update on what's goin on around here.

Tyson left for Mesa, AZ on Sunday. His plan is to play football at the J.C. down there and hopefully get a scholarship to a D1 school. Things are really rough in the football world if you don't have a scholarship; walk-ons are lucky if they get to see the field at all.
At a Junior College, you can only play football your Freshman and Sophomore years; Tyson is a sophomore in football so it's his last chance to make it or break it. If there is no scholarship with his name on it come December, we're callin' it good and gonna move on like a normal married couple for once lol. The stress really can be too much sometimes, and you have to take a step back and think what's really worth it in the end.
It's been really hard already being away from him and it's only Thursday! But I have a flight booked to see him next Friday for the weekend to catch his first camp game.

You're probably thinking I'm crazy for not going right? "Is she insane?! She didn't go with him to Powell for a week and now this?!"  Well, we both decided it was best that I stay and keep things stable here while he figures out his football situation there. It wouldn't have been wise to leave my amazing job that pays so well and has great benefits for something so temporary as 4 months at a lower paying job and not knowing if this will all even work out for him (sending us back home in the end).
I fully support Tyson in his dreams 110%; if I didn't support him, I wouldn't have even let him go to Mesa. And as hard as this has been, it'll be good for us at the end of this football road.

Well, there ya go. Finally an update. Wish Tyson good luck in camp - they have two team cuts during camp to widdle it down to the best; I always pray for him to do his best in all he does (football related or not that's all that matters to me).

So much going on that I can't predict or control; and if you know me, it hasn't been sitting well lol. But I've been learning to make the best of what I have and stay positive for Tyson; that's all he needs right now is his wife there to make him feel comforted at the end of the day, hundreds of miles away while he's all alone.

Love and miss you Tys
